Our History

Deutsche Bank was founded in Berlin in 1870 to support the globalisation of business and to promote and facilitate trade relations between Germany, other European countries and overseas markets.

Deutsche Bank opened its first branch in London in 1976 and today has a dynamic financial services platform in the UK. To extend our presence in the important London capital markets Deutsche Bank acquired the merchant bank Morgan Grenfell in 1989.

The acquisition of Tilney Group Limited in 2006 was a strategic move to strengthen Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management's presence in the UK private wealth management market. Tilney, founded in 1836, combines a long history of serving private clients with a strong regional focus.

Today Private Wealth Management serves clients, intermediaries and advisors from offices in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool and London.
