Investment Insights – May 2012

The European sovereign debt crisis, in my view, is entering a serious phase. The first phase of the crisis began in May 2010 when the fiscal problems of Greece became fully recognized. This phase was primarily diplomatic in that, for the next year and a half, policy makers in national governments, the European Central Bank (ECB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) negotiated possible arrangements to deal with the ever-widening crisis.
